For those of you who are the proud owners of the Ensoniq KS-32 or other SQ series synthesizers, you know that the built in sequencer was ahead of its time 15 years ago and now nostalgia elevates its position to cult status. You also know that the onboard memory is powered by a battery similar to that found on pc motherboards. These don’t last forever, folks. They aren’t impossible to find, but you can’t exactly pick them up at Wal-Mart without some modification.
I got a battery on eBay from unwary and would like to provide you with the following instructions on how to change your battery out:
