About Me

For the record, I added “The Ramblings of a Hack Guitarist” to my banner, since I don’t want anybody to come looking for g-e-n-u-i-n-e advise about guitar tone. Like most things in my life, The Tone Guru title was borne out of sarcasm and humor, as I make a habit of tweaking my sound even when others can’t tell the difference. I’m not in any way, shape, or form a guru of much of anything, not the least bit guitar. I’m merely a journeyman and this is my story.
I’ve become somewhat obsessed recently with the concept of an autobiography, mostly because I started forgetting some parts of my childhood. I’m sure that Dr. Phil might suggest that I let some of those memories go, especially the more painful ones, but my clinically diagnosed obsessive-compulsive disorder gives me an excuse to mull stuff over until I’m tired of hearing even my own voice.
I feel like I’ve got plenty to say, so pull up a chair and let me pour you a cup of coffee.
I was born in Brunswick, GA in 1976, moved to Arlington, TX when I was but a wee lad, and moved to Yukon, Oklahoma in 2nd grade. That didn’t last long, as my parents then moved my family to Macon, GA in 7th grade. I moved myself back to Brunswick, GA in 1998, where I’ve been since.
