My switch from PC to Mac has one big pitfall: I absolutely LOVED using Pocket Quicken along with Quicken 2007 Premier to sync my financials to my Treo. Quicken 2007 for Mac lacks many, many, many of the features of the PC Premier version and doesn’t run natively on the Intel Macs. Go figure.

So, I’m tired of wasting 16gb of space to have XP installed in Bootcamp on my MacBook and even more tired of booting into XP just to balance my check book and sync it. Does anybody have an alternative to Quicken or Quickbooks 2007 Pro Small Business in mind for the Intel Mac?

By the numbers:

0 - PC’s in my house. Unless you count XP on my MacBook that I use primarily for Quicken 2007, since Intuit still can’t manage to make a Mac version with the same feature set. Oh, and they refuse to make a Universal Binary.

1 - Cats that I have. Yes, she is evil.

2 - Mac computers in my house.

3 - Classes short of my lowly associates degree. Would you believe that 13 years ago, I graduated a year early from high school to go to college?

4 - Hours my summer biology class lasts, Monday thru Thursday for 5 weeks.

5 - Times I check out www.ragamuffinsoul.com each day. Los has WAY too much free time! Then again, so do I.

6 - Fingers on each hand of my high school friend James Johnson. His parents had the extras removed when he was little. Bummer. He could have played some mean piano.

7 - Years of married bliss to my wife and best friend Brooke.

8 - Books sitting on my nightstand “on deck.”

9 - Times I’ve woken up in a cold sweat while dreaming about forgetting a song while playing on stage with U2.

10 - Guitars I’ve parted with that I wish I’d kept.

warning.JPGFor those of you who are the proud owners of the Ensoniq KS-32 or other SQ series synthesizers, you know that the built in sequencer was ahead of its time 15 years ago and now nostalgia elevates its position to cult status. You also know that the onboard memory is powered by a battery similar to that found on pc motherboards. These don’t last forever, folks. They aren’t impossible to find, but you can’t exactly pick them up at Wal-Mart without some modification.

I got a battery on eBay from unwary and would like to provide you with the following instructions on how to change your battery out:

Here’s a quick tip for you guitar players out there…go to llbean.com and buy a snowshoe bag.
m46701_black.jpg
It’s the perfect size for my two Ultimate guitar stands, six guitar cables, two speaker cab cables, a couple of effects pedal jumper cables, two 25 ft extension chords, two 10 ft extension chords, a ham sandwich and a Heineken Light. Plus, it looks a lot sexier than a duffel bag.

Here’s a bonus. I have a $10.00 L.L. Bean coupon code that doesn’t expire until 10/11/07. I’ll email it to the first person that expresses genuine interest.
